My Minimalist Beauty Routine Cost Me

I’m a big believer that if you focus on good skin care, you really won’t need a lot of makeup.

My skin is prone to acne. The only remedy I found was simple: a combination of Eskinol and Dalacin C. It would cost me less than Php150.00 good for a minimum of 3 months. After years of using that combo, I decided to stop since my skin was already blemish-free.

What a mistake.

Few months after stopping, my skin returned to normal (i.e. hello, pimples). Of course, I went back to my go-to when it comes to mission: pimple-free. I was devastated (yes, devastated!) when it didn’t work its usual magic.

I was in a panic mode because my wedding was in less than a year. That’s when I decided to finally try the costly services of a dermatologist.

Here’s what I realized: the services of a dermatologist may be costly but it’s definitely worth it!

There are a lot of expenses at the start because of the initial creams, medicines, and regular facials. But the creams are good for 6-8 months depending on use and the facials aren’t as needed after unlocking the mission.

In the long run, there was a huge savings that came my way. How so? One, I eliminated spending on skin products that aren’t effective. Plus, I don’t spend on makeup products aside from the foundation with sunscreen my dermatologist recommended and a lipstick.

I was able to achieve one of my goals because I let the expert take care of my skin.

What goal? To have a minimalist beauty routine.

And what’s my minimalist beauty routine? Facial wash, moisturizer (only as needed since I have an oily skin), foundation with sunscreen, and lipstick.

Ah, the joy of simplicity.
